Expert: Spanish giants could tempt Chelsea star into summer move amid 'dressing room' issue

Joao Pedro could be tempted to leave Chelsea after what has been a turbulent season behind the scenes amid growing interest from Barcelona.

Chelsea would be reluctant to let the 24-year-old leave just one year after his arrival from Brighton, but a move to the Spanish giants will prove tempting.

Meanwhile, there have been concerns about a number of players behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge, leading to suggestions of a clear-out of some of the negative attitudes.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Pedro could be among those allowed to leave Chelsea if they deem his attitude a concern.

The Brazil international remains part of their first-choice starting XI, but if dressing room issues linger, his future may not be certain ahead of a busy window for Chelsea.

Could Joao Pedro be tempted away from Chelsea?

Football Insider previously reported that Pedro has become a key player for Chelsea after a string of impressive performances throughout the season.

Interest from Barcelona is set to appeal to the striker, although any deal will depend on whether the Blues are prepared to let him move on.

Chelsea are set to assess their squad at the end of the season before making decisions about outgoing and incoming players, with Pedro’s future up in the air.

“Chelsea are going to assess their squad in the summer,” Brown told Football Insider.

“There are obviously problem players in the dressing room, they need to establish who they are, and then they might have to move them on if they want to fix that.

“If Joao Pedro is part of the group of players they feel have been causing problems, then there is every chance they could allow him to leave.

“He’s been an important player for him this season, so of course they’re going to be reluctant to lose him, but there are going to be big changes at Chelsea.

“A move to Barcelona is bound to be tempting for him, so maybe they could do a deal.

“It’s a difficult one, it depends if Chelsea think he’s having a negative impact. That’s going to be a deciding factor for Pedro and any other player.”

Which other players could leave Chelsea this summer?

Pedro is not the only Chelsea player who could be on his way out this summer amid dressing room issues, with a potential overhaul of the squad on the cards.

Despite his role in the team, Enzo Fernandez could be one of those allowed to move on after he spoke out publicly against the club earlier in the season.

Brown told Football Insider last month that Chelsea will accept offers for Fernandez after he publicly confessed his desire to one day play for Real Madrid.

After he hit out at the club and the decision to let Enzo Maresca go, as well as hinting at a move to Real Madrid, the chances of a summer move have increased.

Fernandez’s outburst marked the major downfall in Chelsea’s form this season, and in an attempt to reinvigorate the squad, he could be moved on.
