Fulham boss Marco Silva lauds Chukwueze’s impact in victory over Spurs

Fulham head coach Marco Silva has praised Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze for his impact in his side’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur last night, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 26-year-old had a brilliant outing, especially in the first half. In the first four minutes, he created the chance for Kenny Tete’s opener.

He was denied two goal-scoring attempts, one by the woodwork, and the other by Micky Van de Ven’s last-ditch tackle after he’d gone round Gugliemo Vicario.

The AC Milan loanee is slowly but surely becoming an important player for Marco Silva’s side after he created the assist for Raul Gimenez in Fulham’s win over Sunderland last week.

Chukwueze’s performance didn’t go unnoticed by the club’s head coach, who is now hoping the Nigerian can be more consistent with his creativity over 90 minutes rather than in spells.

“He was definitely knocking on the door before the game. He is a very good player, we all know that,” the Portuguese coach said in quotes revealed by Fulham correspondent Jack Kelly.

“Unfortunately, with some injuries, three international breaks away from us, it probably didn’t give us time to get to know each other better.

“We have worked together for short spells, but he has always shown a very good level. It’s just a matter of him being in his best physical condition to start games.

“He started because he deserved it, and it was another great performance from him

“Let’s hope he can continue in this way and be more resilient over 90 minutes. He is going to be a very important player for us, like he is right now.

“We should have scored more in the first half, the off the post ball from Chukwu, and then the big chance again.

“The first 35 minutes, the way we controlled the game, it was good, we did create a lot of problems for them, but it was important to score early, keep the discipline.

“We suffered in the second half, probably more than we should have. The discipline was there, the organisation, and it was a well-deserved three points.

Fulham are now 15th in the English Premier League with 17 points from 13 games, and they’re slowly getting into good form after a poor start to the 2025/2026 campaign.
