'How can...?' - Graeme Souness can't believe what he's heard about Rohl at Rangers

Rangers fans should hold off on any criticism of Danny Rohl until the end of the season, Graeme Souness says.

The Gers legend can’t seem to believe that some have raised questions over the German manager despite a successful campaign so far.

Souness doesn’t want to hear anything about Rohl’s performance at the Light Blues right now after turning them into title contenders this season, something that felt impossible after Russell Martin’s sacking.

The Glaswegian outfit were 13 points behind Hearts at one point in the current campaign and are now just one point from the top of the table in the William Hill Premiership.

Rohl’s future at Ibrox should be secure regardless of whether the Govan side win the league title, given how the last few months have unfolded.

Danny Rohl can’t catch a break at Rangers

Rohl could be without Ryan Naderi for the rest of the season after the striker picked up an injury in the 4-2 win over Dundee United.

Right when the former Hansa Rostock centre-forward scored his first goal in the William Hill Premiership, the Gers suffered a major setback.

Tuur Rommens has also been sidelined for some weeks after hitting the ground running since moving to Ibrox in January.

The winter signings were supposed to give the Glaswegian outfit an edge going into the second half of the season, but two of them have struggled with fitness issues, while Andreas Skov Olsen has failed to live up to expectations.

Speaking to the Rangers Review on 9 April, Souness said, “How can anyone be critical of Rohl? When he walked through the door, they were nowhere and had no chance of winning the league.

“Now it’s in their hands — they have to win every game, but they’ve given themselves a fighting chance. No criticism should come his way. The time for criticism will be at the end of the season.”

Danny Rohl must be sensible at Ibrox

With just six games to decide the league title, Rohl can’t start experimenting with his starting lineup at Rangers.

The Light Blues made three defensive changes against Dundee United and looked a bit shaky at the back, with the Tangerines almost scoring a third before Bojan Miovski sealed the three points.

At this point, the German manager should have an idea about his preferred starting lineup, but injuries aren’t helping his cause, with doubts over Mikey Moore and Skov Olsen for the trip to Falkirk.

Rohl shouldn’t make drastic changes to his tactics, but rather choose the right personnel to replace those who are unavailable.
