Hugh Keevins shares Rohl fear as Rangers title hopes slip away
Rangers fans may see Danny Rohl’s inability to win the William Hill Premiership title this season as a reason to sack him.
That’s what Hugh Keevins believes, with all eyes on how 49ers Enterprises will handle any situation in which the German manager is under pressure from the fanbase.
If the Gers see their chances of winning their final piece of silverware slip away, Rohl could potentially see some supporters turn on him.
After losing 3-2 to Motherwell in the first post-split game, the Glaswegian outfit surely needs to beat Hearts at Tynecastle Park on 4 May to calm the nerves among the Ibrox faithful.
If Rohl can’t get the better of Derek McInnes on the evening, then it will be interesting to see whether fans of the Govan side are ready to give him time ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Rangers fans have seen Danny Rohl movie before
Writing in the Daily Record on 3 May, Keevins said, “Rohl will, meanwhile, have to ready himself for the fact that, if Rangers fall in the home strait, many will see that as sufficient grounds for dismissal. And his employers at 49ers Enterprises, who come from a country where sporting jeopardy is handled differently, will have their approach to these matters put up for inspection if the worst comes to the worst.”
Philippe Clement had an impressive start to his tenure at the Gers before the honeymoon period eventually faded away, leading to his departure.
Michael Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst had decent records to start their tenures at Ibrox, but things fell apart for both towards the end of their stints.
Competition Matches Wins Draws Losses William Hill Premiership 26 18 6 2 Europa League 6 1 1 4 Premier Sports Cup 1 0 0 1 Scottish Gas Scottish Cup 3 2 0 1
Rohl has brought stability at the Govan side since taking over from Russell Martin, but he’ll now be judged on the titles he is able to win in G51.
If the former Sheffield Wednesday boss fails to get results after heavy investment from Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers, then there can undoubtedly only be one ending for his chapter at the Glaswegian outfit.
Danny Rohl has obvious task on hand vs Hearts
Rangers have to beat Hearts, plain and simple, if they wish to continue to be considered contenders for the William Hill Premiership title.
The league leaders have an opportunity to end the 40-year duopoly of Celtic and the Gers in Scottish football and taking points off Rohl’s team would certainly be monumental in the race for silverware.

Under the German manager, the Light Blues were knocked out of both domestic cup competitions and their record in the Europa League didn’t really improve.
The ex-Owls boss can’t take a conservative approach to the game at Tynecastle, with the fixture a possible do-or-die to keep hopes of number 56 alive in Govan.
