Ibrox View: Rangers player fails to read the room with social media post today
Tuur Rommens’ poorly timed social media post will likely rub Rangers supporters up the wrong way.
Rommens delivered a tireless performance but found himself on the losing side after Celtic triumphed on penalties in Sunday’s Scottish Cup quarter-final showdown.
Danny Rohl’s toothless Gers dominated much of the proceedings at Ibrox and were painstakingly punished on spot-kicks after the tie went the distance.
While Rommens, who has impressed since joining from Westerlo in January, emerged from the Old Firm derby with some credit, he may have just undone all of his hard work.

What did Tuur Rommens post on social media?
Less than 24 hours after disturbing post-match scenes unfolded at Ibrox, the full-back took to his Instagram story with an update.
In a staggering, and tone deaf, contrast to the blood-and-thunder defeat by Celtic, Rommens appeared to wish his partner a happy birthday.
The photo featured an unnamed woman, possibly his partner, posing for a photo against an eye-catching backdrop, alongside the caption: “Happy one, 23” and a white heart emoji.
His choice to share the picture so soon after the humiliation at the hands of their city rivals will surely irritate Gers supporters, who were hopeful of cup glory.
Unsurprisingly, Rangers’ squad have largely steered clear of social media, and wisely so, but Rommens may have underestimated the level of frustration from matchgoers.
Either way, if anyone can be let off with the lightest rap on the knuckles, it’s him.

A consistent performer, Rommens looks a step up on Borna Barisic already, and his £4million transfer fee appears to be a real bargain.
Rangers didn’t live up to Rommens’ fighting talk
Ahead of the loss to Celtic, Rommens declared the tie was the “biggest cup game” he would ever play in. It is just a shame that too many of his team-mates didn’t seem to realise it.
There is no denying that they dominated their rivals, but once again, they were missing the decisive cutting-edge that would have helped them to progress.
They have been too inconsistent in bearing their teeth, culminating in disappointing results in big games despite performances being, at the very least, respectable.

Gers will now turn their attention back to the four-way Scottish Premiership title fight this weekend, and have six points to make up on leaders Hearts.
It will take all of their might, and a little of Rommens’ fighting spirit, to clinch league glory.
