Ibrox View: Rangers transfer announcement could've been hilarious dig at Celtic woes
Rangers have taken aim at Celtic in the announcement video of Ryan Naderi.
Naderi completed his move to Rangers on deadline day, with the Gers altering his deal to allow him to join immediately rather than in the summer.
That came after Rangers missed out on Cameron Archer and forced Danny Rohl to make a different deal possible with Hansa Rostock.
The Gers have now confirmed the signing of Naderi at Ibrox as they revealed an announcement video late on deadline day.
An inventive video was utilised to unveil the German, with the Light Blues taking a swipe at Celtic after the recent antics at Parkhead.
Rangers announce Ryan Naderi with Traitors inspired video
Naderi was the signing that Rohl wanted at Rangers, especially with Danilo seemingly on his way out of Govan.
The head coach got his man and has handed him the number 20 shirt, ready for the second half of the Scottish Premiership campaign.
Even with the deal being confirmed at midnight, an hour after the winter transfer window had closed, the Gers took a chance to poke fun at their Old Firm rivals.
Naderi was announced with a video inspired by The Traitors TV show as he donned a cloak after picking up a wax-stamped letter, made iconic by the BBC programme.
That may seem to be inspired by the idea of traitors recruiting new members on the show after Rangers “recruited” Naderi, but it may have all been a joke at Celtic’s expense.
Celtic held traitors tifo at Parkhead vs Falkirk
Martin O’Neill’s side faced off against Falkirk in their last outing and actually secured a 2-0 win, but the result was overshadowed.
Fans held up a banner featuring images of Celtic board members Michael Nicholson, Chris McKay and Mark Hargreaves in cloaks and holding up a lantern, just like the show.
It was added to by a banner reading, “Banish the traitors. End the bans.”
It appears that Rangers’ announcement has made the most of this fan disruption at Parkhead and has taken a chance to take a dig at their misfortune.
The Govan faithful will love what the Gers have done in a hilarious swipe at their most bitter rivals in the midst of an already toxic environment at Celtic Park.
