Why Borussia Dortmund could benefit from Ademola Lookman’s Atlético Madrid move
Ademola Lookman recently joined Spanish LaLiga club Atletico de Madrid from Atalanta BC during the 2026 winter transfer window…
Borussia Dortmund could receive an unexpected boost ahead of their Champions League playoff showdown after Ademola Lookman agreed to join Atlético Madrid, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian forward's move to Spain was announced yesterday after all key aspects of the deal were settled.
Multiple reports suggest that Atlético Madrid paid €35 million as a fixed fee, with a further €5 million in achievable add-ons, to end Lookman’s time in Bergamo just days before Atalanta face Dortmund in Europe.

Why Dortmund will benefit from Lookman's sale
Per Afrik Foot, the Nigeria international’s exit could not come at a more convenient time for Niko Kovač's men, who are set to meet Atalanta in the Champions League playoffs for a place in the round of 16.
The first leg will take place in Dortmund on February 17, before the return match in Bergamo on February 25.
With the Nigerian's move to Madrid, Atalanta will be forced to approach both matches without one of their most influential attackers.

Lookman’s full transfer breakdown
Atlético Madrid agreed to pay €35 million upfront to secure Lookman’s services, with an additional €5 million tied to performance-related bonuses.
The 28-year-old is scheduled to complete his medical in Madrid before officially signing his contract and being unveiled by the Spanish club.

Lookman joined Atalanta in 2022 and quickly established himself as a key player, playing an important role in their European success.
Following his exit, BVB will hope his departure weakens Atalanta just enough to tilt their Champions League tie in the German club’s favour.
