Ibrox View: 'Rotten' Rangers star has failed step-in for injured team-mate, he's got no more chances left
Rangers‘ on-loan defender Jayden Meghoma has all but failed in his attempts to step in for the injured Tuur Rommens at left-back.
The on-loan Brentford man has lost his place in Danny Rohl‘s starting eleven since the winter window, and it’s now clear to see why the German head coach has his favourites.
Rommens has been missing since Gers’ 4-1 hammering of Aberdeen back in March due to a muscle issue, and his absence has seen the Bears ship a concerning amount of goals.
Despite wins over Dundee United and Falkirk without the Belgian star, Rohl’s side has still conceded five goals between the two games, and that’s a worry considering the circumstances.
Meghoma has looked out of sorts, and Rommens’ return cannot come any sooner now.

These stats show Jayden Meghoma can’t match Tuur Rommens
Meghoma was dubbed “rotten” for his performance in the Europa League loss to Brann this season by Steven Thompson, who perfectly summed up the left-back’s lack of quality going forward.
Thompson said: “It was poor from Meghoma. He’d got the break of the ball on the left-hand side, he’s got 20 yards to drive into, he does so, but then it’s all about the delivery. And, the delivery was rotten.”
Game Goals conceded Ground duels lost Dribble success FotMob rating Dundee United 2 2 0% 6.7 Falkirk 3 3 33% 6.6
As seen in the table above, the 19-year-old had two poor FotMob ratings in the games against Falkirk and Dundee United recently, and a lack of match sharpness isn’t an excuse to use in this instance.
He has shown a lack of ability to dribble and has had a low 33 per cent success rate in duels, most recently against Dundee United, while conceding five goals in total.
The Englishman should be working hard at Auchenhowie in preparation for when his chances do come, as now, Rohl may not have any patience left with the young man.

If it wasn’t already clear, there’s a very high chance that Rangers don’t turn to Brentford with an offer to keep Meghoma around permanently.
When does Rommens return?
It’s early days, but Rommens looks like he could be another cult hero in the making, after only arriving from KVC Westerlo for a low seven-figure fee in the winter window.
He made an immediate impression at Ibrox, and Rohl is hopeful of the defender’s return soon, especially after watching Meghoma play.

The split is now here, which gives Rommens some time to recover before the run-in, as Rohl is hopeful of his return against Motherwell.
Once the left-sided defender is back, Meghoma will most likely play no more games for the Light Blues ever again, with his deal at Ibrox expiring this summer.
