Keith Jackson shares what people behind scenes at Rangers already think about Ryan Naderi
Ryan Naderi has only just joined Rangers but as far as first impressions go, his have been positive.
Just before the winter window slammed shut, Rangers signed Hansa Rostock striker Naderi for a reported fee of £4.7million.
While Andreas Skov Olsen’s loan move from Wolfsburg may be Rangers’ most eye-catching deal, Naderi could be a transfer gem.
Naderi has been likened to Newcastle United’s £69m summer signing Nick Woltemade, off the back of scoring eight goals and adding five assists for the third-tier German side.
Comparisons aside, Danny Rohl is excited about the 22-year-old, and it seems he is not the only one.
Excitement building at Rangers over new signing Ryan Naderi
To some outsiders looking in, Rangers paying nearly £5m for a player who has been playing in the third tier of German football could be seen as a gamble.
In recent years, Rangers strikers have been asked to get heavily involved in the build-up play to the opposition’s box – but Naderi may not do that.
According to Daily Record writer Scott McDermott, the 6ft 4in forward likes to create things for himself and get into the box, in something of a throwback attacker.

His colleague Keith Jackson stated that people at Rangers are “excited” about Naderi, but it is too soon to say whether or not they have been the Scottish Premiership’s “winners” in the winter transfer window.
He said on Record’s Hotline Live show: “They [Rangers] are excited about him. There are a lot of people who seem to be really excited about him.
“I think Rangers had a really strong window, but until we actually see what they’ve got on their hands, you can’t really gauge it.”
Naderi could make his Rangers debut on Wednesday night at home to Kilmarnock as they try to close the gap to leaders Hearts to three points.
Have Rangers won the winter transfer window?
In addition to Naderi and Skov Olsen, Rangers also signed Tochi Chukwuani from Sturm Graz and Westerlo’s Tuur Rommens.
Chukwuani has arguably been the best of their signings so far, but how do they compare to Hearts and Celtic’s deals?

The Bhoys secured loan deals for forwards Junior Adamu and Tomas Cvancara from Bundesliga sides Freiburg and Borussia Monchengladbach, while right-back Julian Araujo and right midfielder Joel Mvuka joined for the rest of the season from Bournemouth and FC Lorient, respectively.
Hearts signed right-back Jordi Altena from RKC Waalwijk, secured the free transfer of winger Islam Chesnokov, the loan deal of Birmingham City’s Marc Leonard, and Vardar’s Rogers Mato.
Just six points separate first-placed Hearts and third-placed Rangers. Time will tell if the Bears, or any of their rivals, have done the best business in the winter window as an intriguing title race ensues.
