Kieran Maguire sends Everton and Sheffield Wednesday messages over latest John Textor development

Everton and Sheffield Wednesday fans may be thankful that neither of them were purchased by John Textor, who now owns Belgian side RWD Molenbeek.

The Belgian outfit is now part of Textor’s multi-club ownership network under his company, Eagle Football Holdings.

RWD Molenbeek have now been reportedly added to FIFA’s transfer ban list, and will not be able to make any more deals for the next three windows.

Textor tried buying Sheffield Wednesday from former chairman Dejphon Chansiri, who was holding out for offers of £100million, but both failed in their respective attempts.

Farhad Moshiri was also in talks with Textor, but after a deal fell through, the Friedkin Group took over the Toffees, something which financial expert Kieran Maguire suggests they should be thankful for.

Everton fans may have felt sorry for Sheffield Wednesday when news emerged that the Owls had already signed off to sell the club to Textor in September.

Wednesday already started the season with a major points deduction, and finished the Championship campaign on 0 points, but have now been purchased by a US consortium led by David Storch.

Wednesday are moving forward, while Everton look to be bigger and better than ever under Dan Friedkin, as both sets of fans may be glad that Textor never got deals over the line.

After the news about RWD Molenbeek broke, Maguire sent a message to Wednesday and Everton fans.

The finance expert said: You dodged one here Everton and Wednesday fans.”

There is a risk of the club being relegated to the Belgian third division, while bankruptcy is also being mentioned.

How do Everton look under TFG?

The Friedkin Group’s overall takeover of Everton was around £500m, and the group wrote off around £350m worth of debt.

David Moyes has been leading a charge for the Toffees in the Premier League this season, and a spot in Europe is on the cards.

Behind the scenes, TFG are working on other sources of income for the Toffees, with a deal close for a new front-of-shirt sponsor, CMC Markets, which will see the Blues rake in a modest increase on their current partners, Stake.

Things are looking up for both the Owls and Everton, and fans may be counting their blessings that Textor fell short in his respective attempts to buy the clubs.
