It appears to be now or never for Leeds United if they want to finally secure the signing of Troy Parrott ahead of next season.

The Whites have been linked with the Ireland international in both of the last two transfer windows, but have been unable to lure him back to the Premier League so far, despite their sustained attempts.

Parrott has enjoyed another excellent season for AZ Alkmaar, as he already has 13 Eredivisie goals from just 21 games so far this term, while he has also hit nine in 13 in the UEFA Conference League.

Leeds’ summer transfer plans have placed a big emphasis on finding a new striker to provide further quality alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, but they must move quickly if they want Parrott to be their man.

Troy Parrott competition growing ever stronger

Football Insider revealed on Friday that Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan have both joined the race to sign Parrott this summer, as the former Tottenham academy product is now beginning to attract major European interest.

He has been one of the most consistent scorers in the Eredivisie in recent years, and as a result, it has become increasingly clear that a move to one of the ‘top five’ leagues is beckoning on the horizon.

Premier League interest is also mounting in the 24-year-old once again, with Leeds, West Ham and Tottenham having all considered a move to bring him back to English football.

However, with options also now mounting up for the frontman on the continent, now is the time when Leeds must step up their interest and move quickly if they are to have any chance of winning the race for his signature.

Both Dortmund and Milan are on course to be able to offer Champions League football for next term, and they are also blessed with a significant pull and spending power that could easily tempt someone like Parrott.

With that in mind, time is of the essence for Daniel Farke and Co. after the latest twist regarding his future.

Parrott move to force Joel Piroe out of Elland road

Football Insider recently revealed that Joel Piroe could be forced out of Leeds this summer, after the Dutchman previously came close to leaving the club during the recent January window.

Last season’s promotion hero in the Championship has been starved of opportunities in the Premier League this term, and while the Whites were reluctant to lose him mid-season, it could be a different story this time around.

Leeds are keen to ensure that they continue pushing forward if they preserve their top-flight status in the coming weeks, and the attack has been identified as a key area to be upgraded.

The writing already appears to be on the wall for Piroe at Elland Road, but a move for Parrott would surely provide the final nail in the coffin.
