Man United want to sign Everton star, Toffees want record-breaking figure - report

In a perhaps unsurprising update, Iliman Ndiaye has been linked with a winter exit from Everton.

Hopefully, this sentence will become void in a few days, but Everton are yet to make any use of the winter transfer window, despite the clear need for reinforcements.

The Toffees have had their lack of squad depth exposed on several times over the last few weeks, but The Friedkin Group have done very little to rectify those concerns.

Instead, most of the news in January has concerned exits from the Hill Dickinson Stadium, several of which have been ratified, while the others were almost non-starters.

Man United have already shown an interest in signing James Garner from Everton this month, and now, they want to bring Ndiaye to Old Trafford.

Man United will have to pay record-breaking fee for Iliman Ndiaye

Ndiaye has been the heartbeat of this Everton team, and his absence throughout the AFCON period was certainly felt.

However, with the Senegal international now back on Merseyside, they will be looking towards him to spark the magic that has so often been the difference-maker in games so far this season.

That will only be the case if he remains.

Fichajes have now reported that Man United want to sign Ndiaye, with chiefs at Old Trafford well aware of the “unprecedented financial effort” it will take to prize him away from Everton.

The report adds that the Toffees would only start the conversation for a bid in the region of £75million, which would be a club-record fee, matched with that of Romelu Lukaku’s sale to the Red Devils.

David Moyes is said to be confident in their ability to retain Ndiaye’s services, given the fact that he has a contract at Everton until 2029.

The Friedkin Group could be about to expose their ambition at Everton

Given the situation that Everton face right now, it would be ludicrous for them to enter exit talks for Ndiaye at any price, especially in the winter.

That changes slightly in the summer, but an exit now for the forward would completely derail their season, and for no particular reason.

Everton need to keep their best players and build a team around them, as opposed to selling them and building a team because of them.

The Friedkin Group have constantly stressed that they have high ambitions for the Toffees, and the first step of proving that has to be to dismiss any offers for Ndiaye in this window.
