Micky van de Ven ‘concern’ emerges after new Tottenham developments
Micky van de Ven has been superb for Tottenham this season.
Van de Ven is Tottenham’s most valuable asset, but reports have linked him with a move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Spurs have no intention of selling Van de Ven right now, who still has over three years left on his contract in North London.
The Dutch centre-back has been one of the bright sparks in an otherwise miserable season, although former Manchester United defender Steve Bruce does have one worry about his career.

Steve Bruce is concerned about Micky van de Ven’s injury record
Tottenham face Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday, and Van de Ven has been ruled out of the contest.
Thomas Frank confirmed that the 24-year-old was unavailable for the trip to Germany in his pre-match press conference, although he hopes that he will be fit for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Man City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Although it is just a minor issue, it highlights a growing pattern of injuries for the 24-year-old.
Season Days out Number of different injuries Games missed 2024-25 134 days 4 32 2023-24 76 days 2 16 2021-22 104 days 3 18 2020-21 82 days 3 20
Speaking on talkSPORT on 28 January, Bruce expressed his worry over Van de Ven’s fitness issues.
He said: “[Cristian] Romero and Van de Ven are a good mixture, both of them are very, very talented.
“The only thing I’ll say about Van de Ven is that he seems to pick up a lot of injuries as a centre-back.
“It’s the one area of the pitch where you want a bit of stability. He seems like a wonderful player, but that’s my only concern with him.”
For such a young player with so much potential, it is alarming, and although Van de Ven has been fit for the majority of this campaign, it doesn’t take away from his previous experiences on the sidelines.
Tottenham’s injuries this season have been completely devastating
It highlights a wider theme in N17, as several players have been injured for a prolonged period of time.
Dejan Kulusevski is in Barcelona to see a specialist about his knee, while James Maddison is still recovering after rupturing his ACL in pre-season.
Richarlison is also out injured, while Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani have had to deal with their fair share of problems.

Even Pedro Porro is missing the Frankfurt match, and the medical department surely has fallen under some scrutiny.
It’s the second consecutive season that Spurs’ campaign has been derailed by injuries, and it can’t just be an unfortunate coincidence.
Van de Ven is one of many players at Tottenham who can’t seem to escape these setbacks, and hopefully, he won’t be affected by any minor issues in the long run.
