Mikey Moore: Rangers loanee sends message to Jermain Defoe as Tottenham legend named new Woking boss
Mikey Moore has congratulated Tottenham Hotspur and Rangers legend Jermain Defoe after he was appointed as Woking’s new manager on Sunday evening.
The 43-year-old has taken on his first permanent managerial role with the National League outfit, and the young starlet was quick to offer his support to the Lilywhites legend.
Defoe’s immediate priority is to try and help Woking into the play-offs at the end of the season, as they are currently nine points adrift of the top seven, with seven games still to play.
He has previously enjoyed a caretaker spell in charge at Ibrox after Steven Gerrard’s departure back in 2021, while he has also held an academy coaching role at Spurs in the past.
The former striker will be hoping that his stint in charge of Rangers can provide him with the perfect guidance as he begins to take the first major step of his managerial journey.

Jermain Defoe feels the love after Woking appointment
Defoe is held in extremely high regard after his contributions at both Rangers and Tottenham during his playing career, and Moore is now following in his footsteps up at Ibrox.
The Spurs gem has always shared a strong relationship with the Lilywhites hero, and that was clear to see when Woking announced the appointment on Sunday evening.

The Surrey outfit took to Instagram to confirm the arrival of the former England international, and messages of support quickly poured in from some of football’s most notable names.
Moore responded to the post with: “JD,” followed by a clapping emoji, while former Tottenham teammate Robbie Keane also replied with: “Good luck mate,” and three clapping emojis.
Coventry City boss Frank Lampard echoed that message, while John Terry also wished Defoe good luck in his new role.
Mikey Moore hoping to repeat Defoe feat at Rangers
Tottenham have been delighted with Moore’s loan spell, as he has taken on a hugely increased level of responsibility in the second half of the season at Ibrox.
The 18-year-old has notched four goals and one assist in the Scottish Premiership since the turn of the year, as he has helped to fire Danny Rohl’s side firmly into title contention.
Defoe was part of the last Rangers group to lift the Scottish Premiership title under Gerrard back in 2020-21, when he struck four league goals to help the team on their way to glory.
Moore is clearly a keen admirer of his career, and he already has the chance to repeat the feat that his idol achieved in Glasgow.
The Gers are now just three points behind Hearts in the race to finish at the summit, and Moore’s involvement is likely to be crucial between now and the end of the season.
