'Never say never' - Barry Ferguson sends message on 23-cap int'l moving to Rangers

Rangers would find it hard to finance a move for Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson in the upcoming transfer window.

That’s what Barry Ferguson believes, as the 26-year-old has been tipped to leave the Italian club in the summer after struggling for regular game time.

The Gers icon has tipped his nephew to look for pastures new in the coming months, but the Light Blues may not be able to afford him.

Lewis has been linked with a move to Ibrox due to his familial connection with the Glaswegian outfit, and despite Barry’s doubts over the midfielder’s arrival in G51, he has sent a “never say never” message.

All eyes in Govan will be on Andrew Cavenagh’s plans to possibly back Danny Rohl ahead of the 2026-27 campaign and it will be interesting to see how much money the American owners will spend this time around.

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.

Lewis Ferguson signing needed more than ever at Rangers

James Tavernier seems to be on his way out of the Gers at the end of the season, with his contract expiring in May.

The Light Blues could lose their captain soon and the 34-year-old’s leadership will undoubtedly be missed in the dressing room.

Nicolas Raskin seems ready to step into that role, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Glaswegian outfit cash in on him if a significant offer arrives for the Belgium international in the summer.

Lewis has had the armband at Bologna for some time now and the 23-cap Scotland international’s arrival in G51 may be much-needed considering the possible squad revamp at Ibrox.

Speaking on Five Stars VIP on 22 April, Barry said, “I very much doubt it because of the transfer fee that he’ll be worth. He’s been in and out of the tram at Bologna this year. You might see Lewis move on in the summer. Unfortunately, I don’t think Rangers will be able to afford him.

“But I would love to see him at Rangers one day because I think they missed out when he moved on to Bologna. As a family, the whole family would love to see him at some stage put that Rangers strip on.

“So never say never.”

Danny Rohl can convince Lewis Ferguson to Ibrox

Rohl has renewed hopes of winning major honours at Rangers since replacing Russell Martin, bringing them back from an almost impossible position to be in a title race.

The Gers have everything in their hands and the German manager will lift silverware at the end of the season if they win every game post-split.

It looks like Rohl is building something special in Govan, and with owners willing to spend significant money in transfer windows, the Glaswegian outfit may be building a successful project.

The opportunity to consistently compete for titles may entice Lewis to think about a move to Ibrox if his chapter in Bologna does end.
