Super Eagles news: Turkey-based Nigerian striker draws fresh Saudi attention amid red-hot form

Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu has continued to attract interest from several clubs ahead of the summer transfer window following his impressive performances this season, Soccernet.ng reports.

After a disappointing spell in England with Southampton, the 31-year-old has rediscovered his goalscoring form and has been outstanding for Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super League this season, netting 24 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.

Of his total goal tally, 22 of them have come in the league, putting him firmly in contention for the golden boot award. The Super Eagles forward currently holds a four-goal lead over his closest challenger, Istanbul Basaksehir’s Eldor Shomurodov, with only four matches left to play this season.

Onuachu has also been influential in keeping Trabzonspor in the title race with his brilliant goalscoring form, although a recent dip in form means they may no longer be able to catch Galatasaray, who currently hold a six-point advantage over them.

His performances has raised his profile and attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, as well as from Saudi Arabia, heading into the summer transfer window.

Paul Onuachu only rejoined Trabzonspor for a second spell last summer, but could be on his way out of the club again this summer, given the growing attention he is attracting ahead of the window.

According to new reports per Buchi Laba on X, a new club from the Saudi Pro League is reportedly considering making a serious offer to sign the Nigerian striker and are willing to offer him four to five times his current wages at the Turkish club.

Such an offer could prove very difficult to turn down, especially given the financial terms involved and despite Trabzonspor’s reluctance to sell the Super Eagles striker, a strong offer like this could force a change in stance, as it would also allow the club to reinvest in other areas of the squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Onuachu is still under contract until 2028, but his focus for now will be on finishing the season strongly, with Trabzonspor’s slim title hopes still alive, while he also leads the golden boot race, before he decides on his next move.
