'Oh my god' - BBC Pundit amazed by 'magnificent' moment from Rangers star vs Motherwell

Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti had Peter Lovenkrands amazed by his touch in the opening minutes against Motherwell.

At around the sixth minute, when a long ball was played to the Portuguese striker from the Gers’ defence at Ibrox, he brought it down brilliantly and turned, taking the opposition out of the equation and ran on the break.

Lovenkrands, the Glaswegian outfit’s former attacker, praised the former Everton number nine for his touch, but he gave the ball away moments later.

Chermiti needs to step up to the plate in the second half as the Light Blues go into the break with work to do after goals from Lukas Fadinger and Emmanuel Longelo.

Danny Rohl needs to get a grip at Ibrox and try to turn things around after the break, with a huge half-time team talk set in G51.

Danny Rohl will have one message for Rangers players

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Alasdair Lamont said, “The initial touch, Peter, has you drooling there, I think,” and Lovenkrands responded, “Oh my god. That was fantastic. He took the ball down. It’s kind of at the height of his knees, and he took it behind his left leg away from the defender. It was magnificent.”

Rohl has more or less chosen a starting lineup most fans would have wanted to see at Ibrox.

Chermiti’s league record before Motherwell game

With Chermiti and Bojan Miovski starting up front, supporters will hope the two number nines can continue their good form at home after their respective braces against Falkirk and repeat their heroics against Motherwell.

The Light Blues went two goals down against the Bairns before beating them 6-3, and they can’t let the current scenario sink their confidence.

Rohl must demand more from his number nines, but the defence also needs to have a long, hard look at themselves and ensure they don’t let the visitors compound their misery in G51.

Jack Butland risks Ibrox frustration vs Motherwell

Jack Butland needs to be better in the second half after some poor passes out from the back in the opening 45 minutes and arguably failing to do better to stop Fadinger’s shot.

The goalkeeper’s distribution has been wasteful and he seems nervous in what could be a monumental game for Rangers.

Rohl will surely want to have a word with the English shot-stopper and demand better from him as it won’t take the home supporters long to let their feelings be known at Ibrox if things continue to get worse.

The Glaswegian outfit need to take encouragement from their good moments in the first half and build on them to change the mood at Ibrox.
