Real Madrid want €100m Arsenal star, Gunners could offer him “record” salary hike

Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber is reportedly a target for Real Madrid at the end of the season.

The Netherlands International has done quite well since joining Arsenal, and he is currently one of the best right-backs in the Premier League. According to a report from Sports Boom, Real Madrid believe that he could be the ideal successor for Dani Carvajal.

They signed Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer at the start of the season, but the former Liverpool defender has not been able to make the desired impact. He has not been a regular starter for the La Liga club either.

Jurrien Timber has been excellent

On the other hand, Timber has established himself as a key player for Arsenal, and Real Madrid believes that he has an elite profile. The Dutch defender is capable of operating on either flank, and he could be a superb acquisition for Real Madrid. However, Arsenal view him as an “untouchable” asset and are unwilling to open negotiations. It will be difficult for Real Madrid to get the deal done. Meanwhile, Arsenal are determined to keep him at the club, and they are prepared to offer him a new deal with a “record” salary hike.

Can Arsenal keep Timber?

It remains to be seen whether the defender is prepared to commit his long-term future to the London club. He joined the club for a fee of €40 million in 2023, and he has a contract with Arsenal until 2028. The new deal could see his wages rise to £220,000 per week.

The report further claims that Arsenal would only open talks for the defender if an offer of around €100 million is presented. It is highly unlikely that Real Madrid will pay that kind of money for a full-back, and therefore, the transfer seems unlikely.
