Solanke to Newcastle: This is how his key metrics compare to Wissa & Woltemade
Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke “ticks a lot of boxes” for Newcastle United in their search for a new striker, sources have told Football Insider.
There is a feeling at St James’ Park that it would take a “big fee” to prise the 28-year-old away from North London, but it is also understood that Spurs are “vulnerable” to offers for him in the summer.
The England hopeful shares a strong relationship with Magpies boss Eddie Howe after previously playing under him at Bournemouth, and sources say that the Lilywhites would be unable to keep hold of him if they suffered relegation.
Newcastle’s transfer plans for the summer are beginning to take shape, and their pursuit of Solanke could see them spend big on a frontman once again.

How does Dominic Solanke compare to Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade?
Newcastle secured the big-money attacking additions of Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade to make up for the loss of Alexander Isak last summer, but things haven’t gone to plan for either of that duo so far.
They have both struggled for form of late, and their issues have even prompted Howe to start Anthony Gordon through the middle on several occasions in recent games.
Woltemade hasn’t scored in the league since 20 December, while Wissa has just one Premier League goal from 12 games since he recovered from his injury-hit start to the campaign.
On the other hand, Solanke has been in strong form for Spurs after returning from his injury, as he already has five goals from just 14 appearances in all competitions.

Solanke is currently outperforming the Newcastle duo when it comes to his finishing metrics in league action so far this season, while also winning more duels per 90.
He has immediately returned to be a key figure for Spurs once again, but their perilous position is leaving them susceptible to losing their key players this summer.
Newcastle reveal long-term Nick Woltemade plan
Football Insider revealed at the end of February that Howe is hoping that Woltemade’s new role in an attacking midfield position can re-vitalise his time on Tyneside.
There has been plenty of talk about the German potentially being sold by the Magpies this summer, but the club currently have no intention of doing that, and are instead keen to pursue the idea of him playing deeper.
Newcastle are understood to have been impressed by the former Stuttgart man’s performances in his new role in recent weeks, and it has allowed them to get more pace at the top of their attack through Gordon.
The tactical switch surrounding Woltemade appears to have been enough to secure his future at St James’ for now, but if his struggles continue in front of goal, then it could seriously affect his long-term prospects.
