St Mirren announce who'll be in charge vs Rangers after Stephen Robinson joins Aberdeen
St Mirren have confirmed that Craig McLeish will be taking interim charge against Rangers on Sunday.
It was announced on Thursday that Stephen Robinson had left St Mirren to join Aberdeen, leaving the Buddies managerless ahead of Sunday’s clash with Rangers.
St Mirren are currently sitting 10th in the Scottish Premiership table, having enjoyed some excellent campaigns under Robinson in recent years that’s even seen them qualify for European football.
So, Sunday’s match between Rangers and St Mirren will now be played under difficult circumstances for the Buddies, who are winless from their last five league games.

St Mirren announce coaching changes ahead of Rangers game
Announcing via X on Thursday, St Mirren have confirmed that McLeish will be taking interim charge of the team for Sunday’s meeting with Rangers.
Joining his temporary first-team coaching staff will be Jamie Langfield and Allan McManus, as Robinson’s assistant manager Brian Kerr will be following him to Aberdeen too.
McLeish had previously been working in an academy role at St Mirren before stepping up to first-team coaching duties over the last few months, and so is familiar with the Buddies’ players.
Meanwhile, both McManus and Langfield both have caretaker experience before, having adopted that role prior to Robinson’s appointment at St Mirren in 2022, so this won’t be anything new for them either.
Rangers beat St Mirren 2-1 in the reverse fixture back on 30 December 2025, with Thelo Aasgaard and Emmanuel Fernandez getting the goals that day.
Rangers must be wary of fired up St Mirren on Sunday
Robinson’s departure will hit St Mirren hard, as he’s overall been a superb manager for them over the last few years.
Therefore, his shock exit for Aberdeen will undoubtedly hurt both the fans and the players, who must now be fired up to prove he’s made the wrong decision moving forward.
So, despite the fact that they’ve been in dire form in the league over recent games, conceding 14 goals in their last five, St Mirren will be right up for this Rangers task on Sunday.
Danny Rohl will have to ensure his players are fully focused and ready to match their energy levels too, as if not, they could fall victim to a revved up Buddies team.
