Tottenham could make one final signing on the last day of the winter transfer window.

In mid-January, Tottenham signed Atletico Madrid star Conor Gallagher for a reported fee of £34million.

While he has been a first-team regular since his arrival, new Tottenham defensive recruit Souza will have to bide his time following his acquisition from Santos.

Tottenham fans would have been crying out for some more signings after their abject first-half display against Manchester City.

But after coming back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday, head coach Frank has issued a revealing transfer update.

Thomas Frank makes feelings clear on Tottenham transfers

With every week that progresses, Tottenham’s squad seems to get smaller and smaller.

Attacking midfielder James Maddison has been out for the entire season with a serious knee injury and Rodrigo Bentancur is likely to miss much of the rest of the campaign with a hamstring issue.

Winger Mohammed Kudus may not return until April with a quad problem, and defender Ben Davies and midfielder Lucas Bergvall could be out for a similar period with respective ankle problems.

That, and more, is why Frank, who swapped Brentford for Tottenham last summer, wants more signings before the 11pm deadline on Monday.

He told reporters after the City draw: “We are active, no doubt about that. If something happens, let’s see.”

If Tottenham want to rise up the table from 14th, they may need some more quality all over the pitch.

Will Frank still be in charge come the end of the season?

When Frank succeeded Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham last summer, many Spurs fans thought this was a sensible appointment, especially after they had such a wretched Premier League season in 2024-25.

Indeed, Tottenham finished 17th in the table and conceded a hatful of goals, although Postecoglou did end their 17-year hunt for silverware with the Europa League trophy.

And while the defence has improved under Frank this season, this is a long way from the swashbuckling, and often kamikaze, style the north London team displayed under the Australian.

But in addition to the often underwhelming displays, Frank has one of the worst managerial records for a Tottenham boss in the 21st century.

If they had not qualified so comfortably for the Champions League last 16 phase, Frank could be out the job.

If an exit comes swiftly in that competition, Frank could be under pressure to keep his job in the coming weeks and months.

And if there isn’t a big improvement, he may not be given another season to turn things around.
