Tim Sherwood fumes at ‘disgraceful’ scenes in Tottenham vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Tottenham had a goal disallowed in the first half against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Spurs travelled to the Deutsche Bank Park on 28 January, with the scores level at the break despite some threatening moments from both sides.
The North London outfit thought they had found the back of the net in the opening minutes of the game through Xavi Simons, but it was ruled out after a foul in the build-up.
Destiny Udogie was deemed to have pulled Aurele Amenda back before Randal Kolo Muani broke through to create the opportunity.
Tottenham to feel aggrieved after disallowed goal vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Tim Sherwood was raging as Tottenham’s potential opener was chalked off for a decision he believes wouldn’t have been taken in the Premier League.
It can be argued that Udogie had minimal contact on Amenda, who seemed to go down too easily.
Jesus Gil Manzano initially let the play go on, but the Spanish referee, rightly or wrongly, thought the Spurs left-back’s actions were worthy of being penalised.
Speaking on Soccer Special on 28 January, Sherwood said, “It’s a disgraceful decision to rule out the Tottenham goal. It would never have been ruled out in the Premier League.”
Kolo Muani eventually gave the North London outfit the lead right after the break in the 47th minute to give the visitors the advantage.
Thomas Frank seems to be getting things right in the Champions League, and that might be the saving grace for the Danish manager during a difficult period.

Owen Hargreaves has differing opinion about Spurs controversy
Simons is slowly showing his quality at Tottenham, and the Netherlands international was unlucky not to be on the scoresheet in the 2-0 victory.
Dominic Solanke doubled the lead for the Lilywhites in the 77th minute, and fans in N17 will be relieved the disallowed goal didn’t have an effect on the end result.
While Sherwood is enraged by the decision at Deutsche Bank Park, Owen Hargreaves completely agrees with the referee’s call.

Speaking on TNT Sports at half-time, the former Bayern Munich midfielder said, “Just watch Udogie here, just pulls the defender back, just pulls on the shoulder. The referee sees it straight away. We’ll see it from this angle even better. Just here, Udogie pulls on the arm, and the referee, you can see him just behind there, he’s going to blow there, but he obviously lets play go on. And the goal was rightly disallowed.”
There will be plenty of reaction to the incident, but the main objective for the North London outfit was to take three points back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which they did.
