Tottenham insider reveals plan for exit-linked star 'whose agent is constantly talking'

Tottenham’s plans for wantaway defender Radu Dragusin have been revealed.

Dragusin recently returned to the Tottenham squad, after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the 3-0 Europa League win over Elfsborg in January.

The Romanian defender is keen to get back to action, and knows that he is behind the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso in Thomas Frank‘s plans.

However, his attempts to leave seem set to fall on deaf ears at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Will Tottenham let Radu Dragusin leave this month?

Tottenham are not willing to lose Dragusin in the winter transfer window, despite interest from Serie A clubs, including Roma.

John Wenham believes that Spurs are planning to hold on to the 23-year-old, so they do not have to enter the market for another centre-back, who would block Luka Vuskovic’s path.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “Another player that has been linked to go is Radu Dragusin, whose agent is constantly talking about him going, and his aspiration of playing for this team and that team.

At the end of the day, at the moment we need him. He can’t really go on loan; it would have to be a permanent departure, so we can reinvest the funds in someone else.

“But we know how well Luka Vuskovic is doing on loan at Hamburg, maybe Dragusin needs to hold on until the summer, then he can go, and you bring Vuskovic back into the squad.

“Tottenham don’t want to let Dragusin go now, and bring in another centre-back, which puts Vuskovic further back in the pecking order.”

Why would Dragusin not be allowed to leave?

Ultimately, as Wenham states, the Lilywhites would have to replace Dragusin if he departed, and that would harm Vuskovic’s development.

They would have to secure a new option because Romero and Van de Ven are relatively injury-prone, and if either did suffer a problem, Frank would be left with just Danso and Ben Davies if the former Genoa man was allowed to leave.

Buying a new centre-back would push Vuskovic further down the pecking order and undo all the progress that he has been making in Germany, as he looks ready for a place in the squad.
