Tottenham send offer for Barcelona defender as La Liga club could be ‘tempted’ to sell
Tottenham’s defensive crisis has continued to grow following their 2-2 draw against Manchester City.
During Sunday’s fixture, the Lilywhites were without Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro, Djed Spence and Ben Davies due to injury.
Additionally, Cristian Romero was taken off at half-time, putting the fitness of the Argentina centre-back into doubt.
Throughout this crisis, Spurs have been tipped to make a defensive signing, and the current state of the squad could now force them to do so.
Reports now suggest they are already working on a deal before the deadline.

Tottenham send offer for Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo
Thomas Frank’s options at the back are dwindling, and the Dane is in desperate need of reinforcements.
Against Manchester City, Frank was forced to play Joao Palhinha at centre-back, alongside Radu Dragusin, who had not played for over a year for the N17 club.
Additionally, Archie Gray had to be pushed out to right wing-back. It was far from ideal, but the London club still forked out a decent draw against the Citizens.
However, now it looks like Spurs are working on a deal for a defender before the deadline, which will give Frank a huge sigh of relief.
According to Fichajes, Spurs have sent Barcelona a £30.3million bid for Uruguay defender Ronald Araujo.
The makeup of the deal is split into a £26m fixed fee with £4.3m in add-ons, and the Spanish outfit are “internally analysing” the deal.
Tottenham are hopeful of the bid being accepted, with the Lilywhites believing Barcelona “could be tempted to accept due to its current economic situation”.

What has Thomas Frank said about potential signings at Tottenham?
Frank has admitted that Tottenham could complete some deals before the winter transfer window shuts, and getting a defender over the line is surely a priority.
Speaking after the match, the Tottenham head coach said he felt full support from the board and that Spurs “are definitely still in the market.”
Spurs’ options at the back are already stretched, and if Romero’s substitution was injury-related, then dipping into the market may be the only solution.
Araujo has struggled to get minutes at Barcelona this season, which could tempt him to leave the club.

It remains to be seen what deals can be completed with the Lilywhites linked to numerous players ahead of the final day of the window.
However, given the situation, it would be unwise to leave the squad in its current state.
