Tottenham vs Brighton preview: Team news, predicted lineups and score prediction

Tottenham Hotspur are back in action in the Premier League on Saturday as they host Brighton.

Spurs fell to defeat in Roberto De Zerbi‘s first outing in charge on Sunday, with a deflected strike from Nordi Mukiele seeing Sunderland secure a 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light.

De Zerbi arrived at the club over the international break, handed the immediate task of steering the Lilywhites to safety after a dismal season.

Looking to open his account of wins, he takes on his former club Brighton, who he guided to Europe in the 2022-23 season.

The Seagulls sit ninth in the Premier League, and are well in the hunt for continental football under Fabian Hurzeler, with a three-match unbeaten run in their tails as they make the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, Tottenham go into the weekend having not beaten the South Coast outfit since 2024, back when De Zerbi was in charge at The Amex.

Over the course of the last two seasons, Brighton remain unbeaten, with 3-2 and 4-1 wins last term, and a 2-2 draw between the sides back in September.

Team news

On the team news front, De Zerbi has joined the club amid an ongoing injury crisis that has been taking place for the best part of two years.

The talk following the recent loss to Sunderland surrounded captain Cristian Romero, who is now set to miss the rest of the season after being forced off on Wearside.

The absentee list remains largely the same away from this, with the likes of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Wilson Odobert and more all sidelined.

Going into the weekend, Mathys Tel could come in for Richarlison, who disappointed against the Black Cats, while Xavi Simons could be given a chance from the off as he looks to prove himself.

For Brighton, boss Hurzeler is without Adam Webster, who is expected to return later this month, alongside striker Stefanos Tzimas, who will not feature until next season.

Skipper Lewis Dunk will also miss this weekend’s clash, with the defender currently out through suspension.

Tottenham predicted XI: Kinsky; Porro, Danso, Van de Ven, Udogie; Gray, Bergvall; Kolo Muani, Simons, Tel; Solanke

Brighton predicted XI: Verbruggen; Wieffer, Van Hecke, Boscagli, Kadioglu; Ayari, Baleba; Minteh, Hinshelwood, Mitoma; Welbeck

We say: Tottenham 2-1 Brighton

Spurs are simply desperate for a win, having gone without since the back end of 2025.

As all fans are thinking, surely that run has to come to an end at some point, and there would ne no better way to get it than in De Zerbi’s first home match in charge, against the club where he announced himself in England.

Looking to get their survival charge up and running, Tottenham could secure a massive result against Brighton this weekend.
