Tottenham want £86m star in blockbuster summer transfer already after new approach

Tottenham once again failed to get key signings over the line in the winter transfer window.

Thomas Frank’s squad was crying out for reinforcements at the start of January, but in the end only two new faces came through the door.

Conor Gallagher joined from Atletico Madrid, with Brazilian left-back Souza completing his move from Santos soon after.

Spurs did beat Arsenal to Hearts striker James Wilson on deadline day, bringing him in on an initial loan deal with an option to buy, but the 18-year-old will link up with the academy.

Tottenham to revisit Yan Diomande interest

Tottenham have held a long-term interest in RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, who has scored seven goals and picked up five assists in just 19 Bundesliga appearances this season.

Spurs enquired about the availability of the Ivorian in January, but their approach was quickly rejected, with Leipzig unwilling to discuss the sale of the winger.

According to The Athletic, the Lilywhites may relaunch their interest in Diomande when the summer window opens, as they look to bolster their attacking options.

It won’t be a cheap deal for Tottenham to do, though, with RB Leipzig expected to demand around £86million for the 19-year-old.

Diomande is likely to attract interest from a whole host of clubs at the end of the season, so Spurs will have to move quickly to secure the teenager.

Who else could Tottenham sign in the summer?

As was the case last summer, the winter transfer window was one of missed opportunities for Spurs.

The North London outfit made an optimistic approach for Antoine Semenyo, but the Ghanaian opted for a move to Manchester City.

Tottenham also failed to get a deal for Andy Robertson over the line, despite having a verbal agreement with Liverpool.

Arne Slot’s side were unable to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at Roma, so opted to keep the 31-year-old as cover for Milos Kerkez at left-back.

Robertson is another one who Spurs may go back in for during the summer transfer window, especially as he will be a free agent with his Liverpool contract expiring at the end of the season.
