View: De Zerbi could be stained with 91-year Tottenham low as Brighton clash up next
Roberto De Zerbi must find a way to put Tottenham Hotspur‘s winless run to an end.
Not only to keep the Lilywhites in the Premier League, but also to avoid having his own name alongside some of the worst records in the top flight since it began.
Spurs have had a horrid campaign, and they head into Saturday’s clash with Brighton winless in 2026, having suffered defeat away to Sunderland in De Zerbi’s first game in charge.
Sitting just two points behind Chelsea in sixth, the Seagulls have aspirations of European football ahead of the final six games of the season, meaning this encounter will be no mean feat.
However, if Tottenham fail to beat Brighton on Saturday evening, then De Zerbi will find himself just one game away from going down in the history books.

Tottenham edge closer to record-breaking winless run
For any side to have gone 14 games without a win in the Premier League is concerning enough, but it demonstrates just how wrong things are going for that team to be Tottenham.
They’re the only side yet to win three points this year, which, when taking into account we are now halfway through April, is quite remarkable, and not in a good way.
Premier League 2026 Tottenham Wins 0 Losses 9 Draws 5 Goals for 13 Goals against 28
As of now, it is the second-longest winless run in their history, only beaten by the one they endured between 1934 and 1935, which lasted 16 games.
Defeat to Brighton, or even a draw, would see Spurs move one game closer to renewing that record, which would be a harsh mark to have on De Zerbi’s CV, given the time he has had in charge.

To make matters worse, Brighton have lost just one of their last five in the Premier League, with that being against Arsenal at the start of March.
Roberto De Zerbi out to avoid Igor Tudor repeat
Typically, recently appointed Spurs managers have fared well in their first home game since taking over.
Only one of their last 13 permanent managers have suffered defeat in that scenario, though that one manager was, in fact, Igor Tudor.
Tottenham fell to a 4-1 home defeat against Arsenal in the North London derby, which was one of six defeats in a row for the Lilywhites.
