Everton have been linked with a move to sign Joshua Zirkzee.

We are now fast approaching the final 24 hours of the winter transfer window, and Everton have still yet to make a single addition to their squad, presumably to the frustration of David Moyes.

The Toffees have had their lack of depth exposed since the start of January, and while some of those concerns have been rectified with the return of those at AFCON, there is still one glaring one that hasn’t been addressed.

That being their attacking options, with Beto and Thierno Barry both struggling.

Everton have been linked with Zirkzee from Man United, with the chances of a deal now clear after what Michael Carrick had to say.

Michael Carrick makes Joshua Zirkzee intentions clear

Everton need to sign a striker, and that was before Beto was linked with an exit from the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Admittedly, that departure looks unlikely, but mainly due to the Toffees’ inability to bring in a new number nine.

Zirkzee has been linked with several clubs having fallen down the pecking order at Man United, but Carrick insists that the Dutch international remains in his plans.

As quoted via the Mirror, he said: “That is as far as it goes, for me and for Josh. I am looking forward to working with him. That’s it, nothing else needs to be said.”

Added to that, reports have emerged over the last 24 hours stating that Zirkzee wants to stay at Old Trafford, despite interest from Everton as well as Italian clubs.

The Friedkin Group are about to expose their ambitions

When The Friedkin Group took over at Everton, fans were promised plenty of ambition and a plan that would deliver long-term success.

Granted, we are yet to reach that long-term timeline, but there has been nothing to suggest that it is going to come anytime soon.

It couldn’t be clearer that Everton need to sign a striker, and yet we are teetering dangerously close to seeing the Toffees end the window without one.

Jorgen Strand Larsen and Jean-Philippe Mateta are both set for exits from their respective clubs, the latter for a fee in the region of £30million, and yet Everton are stuck with nothing.

The next 24 hours are set to paint a clear picture as to what TFG are looking to achieve on Merseyside.
