Everton have plenty of reasons to sign FC Midtjylland striker Franculino Dju in the upcoming transfer window.

The Toffees arguably need to bolster their number nine position in the summer, with Thierno Barry and Beto their only two natural options.

David Moyes has been crying out for a reliable goalscorer at the Blues this season, and while the former Udinese ace has hit a purple patch, he has been hit and miss for most of his career in Merseyside.

There’s no denying Franculino’s quality, with the likes of Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona monitoring the 21-year-old who is valued at over £21.7million and is likely to be sold for a historic sum, according to Estadio Deportivo, giving the Hill Dickinson Stadium hierarchy another motive to go all out for him.

All eyes in L3 will be on The Friedkin Group’s willingness to back Moyes ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, with significant investment surely needed to make further progress.

Franculino Dju season in numbers amid Everton interest

Franculino has been a goalscoring machine for Midtjylland this season, scoring 17 goals in 20 league appearances.

The striker has a whopping goal conversion rate of 40 per cent, scoring every 77 minutes for the Danish club and taking 1.3 shots on target per game, with a majority of his strikes coming from the left foot, as per Sofascore.

Apart from finding the back of the net, the centre-forward is a capable playmaker, providing three assists and creating four big chances.

It’s easy to see why so many top teams have the Guinea-Bissau international on their radar, but it remains to be seen whether the Toffees can win the race for his signature.

Barry’s struggles at Everton haven’t been encouraging, but they wouldn’t want to discard the striker just yet after spending a hefty sum on him.

Beto has been a valuable asset for Moyes over the years, but the 28-year-old may look to leave if the Blues sign a recognised first-choice number nine.

Franculino’s arrival arguably wouldn’t threaten either Barry or Beto’s immediate future at the Merseyside outfit, simultaneously providing more depth and competition in the attack.

The Toffees should look to build a competitive squad for next season capable of competing on all fronts, and having three strikers would certainly go a long way in ensuring that.
