After a disappointing season which is set to end without a trophy for Arne Slot’s side, they are ready to make significant investment in the summer transfer window to rebuild there squad.
Liverpool’s hierarchy has mapped out a bold, aggressive financial strategy to properly reshape the squad, according to Football Insider.
The primary objective? To generate a staggering £100 million in pure profit through player sales.
This massive financial windfall will reportedly act as the foundational pillar for manager Slot’s summer transfer budget.
Liverpool have a strategy in mind to rebuild squad
Slot has worked hard to implement his unique tactical vision. However, to truly build a squad capable of sustained dominance on both domestic and European fronts, fresh blood is required in the squad.
Stefan Borson, former financial adviser of Manchester City, has claimed that the Reds could spend around £250m in the summer transfer window.
“They spent more than £400m last summer,” said Borson.
“They’re not going to do that again without very material sales. You have just got to look and say,
‘Well, who can you sell?’.
“It’s not straightforward to sell players that you no longer want, who have big fees and are on big wages. There’s limited capacity in the market for these sorts of players.”
Among the big names to get linked with a move away from Anfield, midfielder Alexis Mac Allister’s name has been mentioned in the media.
Reds expected to spend close to £250m in the summer
Borson added: “I wouldn’t say they’re boxed in, but it’s not going to be straightforward to find the right balance of players leaving.
“I can’t see them spending much more than say £250m and trying to bring in another £100m of profit as opposed to gross. I don’t know where the £100m comes from, but that’s probably what they’re going to look to do.”
To hit that ambitious £100 million profit margin, the club is meticulously preparing to clear out the fringes of their current squad.
While generating that level of pure profit is a lofty goal, it’s entirely feasible given the heavily inflated valuations in the modern English market.
When combined with the club’s standard, pre-allocated summer budget, Slot will essentially be handed a massive, heavily reinforced war chest to go after premium targets.
Whether the recruitment team is looking to secure a marquee forward or a long-term defensive anchor, the required funds will be there, provided the outgoing sales are executed flawlessly.
