Everton are preparing for their first trip to face West Ham since November 2024.

The Toffees are still licking their wounds from late defeat in the Merseyside derby, but can’t let that impact their focus.

A clash away to David Moyes’ former side now awaits as the Scot looks ahead to a first East London return since coming back in on Merseyside.

That will certainly make for an interesting Premier League clash as both sides go in search of points for their battle at each end of the table.

Things certainly won’t be easy for Everton away to West Ham due to the volume of alterations since their last outing in E20.

The Blues have the better of recent history against the Irons, but that is all set to go out the window for Saturday’s meeting.

That isn’t helped by the fact that the L3 outfit have won just two of their last five fixtures away at the London Stadium since May 2021.

Everton are certainly in a better place now, and with Moyes in charge, can go into this encounter as favourites.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be looking at things and questioning whether his side can get at the Toffees due to the level of changes since the last London Stadium meeting of the two sides.

A 0-0 draw played out in November 2024, and since then, the Merseysiders have waved goodbye to five of their starters that day.

Everton will now face West Ham in 2026, but their side will certainly look completely different.

Everton have lost five starters since last West Ham away day

Jordan Pickford, James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite, Vitalii Mykolenko, Idrissa Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye are the only remaining stars from that day in 2024.

That has seen five starters at the London Stadium all depart L3, with Ashley Young being the one defender that day to move on.

He featured across the full 90 that day, completed seven defensive actions and now finds himself at Ipswich Town.

Orel Mangala and Abdoulaye Doucoure started in midfield alongside Gueye, and helped seal a clean sheet, but now line up for Lyon and Neom respectively.

The attack is also largely different, with Ndiaye featuring alongside Jesper Lindstrom and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Everton XI vs West Ham 2024

Things never worked out for the Denmark international in L3, as he failed to score in 29 appearances for the Blues before ultimately moving to Wolfsburg.

The same can’t be said of Calvert-Lewin, who scored 71 for the Toffees and has since gone on to net 12 goals in 34 appearances at Leeds United this season.

Losing all these players within a year is bound to make a difference at the London Stadium, but it is something that Moyes will have to battle with.
