View: Everton star could surely depart after what David Moyes has done

David Moyes may have sealed Tim Iroegbunam’s fate at Everton.

Iroegbunam was linked with a switch to Serie A earlier this month, but no movement was made on a potential £8.6million deal.

However, Moyes‘ latest decision could mean that a Hill Dickinson Stadium could be on the cards for the former Aston Villa man.

He has featured 18 times for the Blues in the Premier League so far this season, with 11 starts and seven appearances off the bench.

What has Moyes done that could lead to Iroegbunam’s exit?

Harrison Armstrong looked set to rejoin Preston on loan, after returning to the Toffees for midfield cover early in the window.

However, Moyes has now decided that the 19-year-old is ready for top-flight action and he will stay on Merseyside for the rest of the season.

With the Blues having Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Idrissa Gueye, Merlin Rohl, James Garner, Armstrong and Ireogbunam, there is room for a departure.

Why Everton should consider offers for Iroegbunam

Iroegbunam is under contract with the Blues until the summer of 2027, so his value will plummet over the next few months, as there is less time on his deal.

Given that Armstrong has proved to be a valuable squad player, even starting the last five matches, there is little need for the 22-year-old to stick around and remain a bit-part option.

It could be a move that works out for all parties, Iroegbunam can get more gametime, and the Blues get a more sizeable fee than they would if they held on to the player and allowed his deal to run down.

Iroegbunam has been wildly inconsistent in his time in L4, and fresh scenery could provide him with an opportunity to become a regular starter, away from the pressure that comes with playing for Moyes’ side.

It will be interesting to see whether clubs that are eyeing the Englishman come back after the Scotsman’s decision to keep Armstrong around.

They will have to make their move very shortly, with the 7:00 pm GMT deadline approaching rapidly, but the potential for an exit is definitely more likely after Moyes’ decision.

Whether it happens or not, only time will tell.
