Jesper Lindstrom could finally turn useful for Everton, months after his disappointing loan move came to an end.

Everton signed Lindstrom on a loan deal from Napoli at the start of last season, but the transfer failed to inspire.

The attacker was given more than enough chances to impress, and even David Moyes handed the Dane one too many opportunities at Goodison Park.

The Toffees decided against pursuing a permanent move for Lindstrom, and many would have ultimately felt let down by the 25-year-old’s performances on Merseyside.

Now at Wolfsburg, Lindstrom has the chance to do some good for Everton amid Moyes’ hopes of landing a new forward this month.

Everton are in the January market for a new winger to supply competition for Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye on the flanks.

Dwight McNeil and Tyler Dibling have both faced criticism this season, and it seems like the pair aren’t going to help the Toffees in a push for European football, with replacements needed.

Patrick Wimmer’s name has been mentioned to Moyes, as the Wolfsburg star has been in impressive form for the Bundesliga side.

Everton face stiff competition from Fulham, among other Premier League clubs, for Wimmer‘s signature, but the Toffees may have a helping hand in the form of Lindstrom.

The ex-Everton loanee can provide his Wolfsburg team-mate with all the positives that he needs to know about the Blues, potentially tempting him for a switch to Merseyside.

Everton’s interest in Wimmer is telling on Tyler Dibling’s future

Everton spent a lot of money on Dibling in the summer, with reports suggesting that the Friedkin Group splashed out £40million to acquire the youngster’s services from Southampton.

The winger has so far failed to deliver at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but it’s understandable considering his age and lack of Premier League experience.

• Dibling has yet to register a goal contribution for the Blues

Dibling has been tipped for a loan move back to Southampton, but if made available for a temporary exit, the Toffees would have no issue in finding many other suitors for the teenager’s signature.

Everton’s interest in Wimmer suggests that Moyes would like a better back-up option for Ndiaye, as a January move for the Austrian could progress in the coming days with the help of Lindstrom.
