Everton have shown a keen interest in signing Abdul Fatawu from Leicester City.

The Ghana international has starred for nearly three seasons at the King Power, but looks destined for a summer departure.

The Foxes are facing the serious threat of relegation from the Championship after a shocking campaign and a points deduction.

Regardless of what division the East Midlands outfit are playing in next season, it is likely that the winger will be featuring in the Premier League or another top tier.

Fatawu could find himself at Everton ready for next season, as Goodison News assesses why the Toffees want to sign the winger.

How good has Fatawu been for Leicester City?

The hunt for a new winger has been public knowledge on Merseyside for many months, even after Tyrique George signed from Chelsea.

It hasn’t been a great spell for the loanee, or for other wide options like Tyler Dibling and Dwight McNeil, who have had difficult seasons of their own.

Signing a new option would make total sense when the summer window opens, with Fatawu seemingly near the top of the shortlist on Merseyside.

That comes off the back of 51 appearances with Leicester City across the Premier League and Championship.

Injuries hampered his spell in the top flight, but in two second-tier campaigns, he has racked up 36 goal involvements, which is no mean feat.

Even with the Foxes’ struggles this season, he has still netted nine and assisted seven, while also creating 47 chances with his 70 per cent pass accuracy and completing 95 dribbles.

That sort of talent on the ball would certainly be perfect for David Moyes’s side, especially with his ability to also hold his own with 95 duel wins and 114 defensive actions so far this campaign.

Fatawu has been linked to Everton, and it seems clear that the hierarchy at Hill Dickinson Stadium wants to get a deal over the line.

Reports have emerged previously that Moyes is a fan of the Ghanaian and is interested in bringing him to Merseyside.

That has since been echoed by former Everton scout Bryan King, who exclusively told Goodison News that L4 representatives have picked him out as a target.

He said: “The Everton scouting staff have been able to identify him as a Premier League-standard player.”

That could all contribute to a perfect deal for the Toffees as the summer transfer window edges ever closer.

There is clear proof of his ability on show at Leicester, so bringing him in at a cut-price could be excellent for all parties.
