View: Rangers attack peaks at the right time as difference-maker Danny Rohl's impact revealed

Rangers produced one of their best attacking performances of the season in their thrilling 6-3 comeback win over Falkirk.

Danny Rohl‘s side put in a comeback befitting of a Scottish Premiership champion after coming from two goals down to claim all three points at Falkirk Stadium on Sunday.

After Celtic and Hearts both won on Saturday, Rangers got off to a wretched start as Ben Broggio and Finn Yeats scored within the first 26 minutes.

Tochi Chukwuani’s hotly contested finish reduced their arrears before half-time, before Youssef Chermiti, Nicolas Raskin, and Bojan Miovski put Rangers in control.

Calvin Miller scored from the spot, but further goals from Chermiti and Miovski rounded off a remarkable day in the title race for Rangers.

Rangers attack clicks into gear

Despite having 48.6 per cent possession and being outplayed for the first 30 minutes, Rangers roared back to close to within one point of league leaders Hearts heading into the post-split fixtures.

But, the Gers had 20 shots to Falkirk’s seven, nine of them were on target, and they created an Expected Goals tally of 3.7, versus the home side’s 1.7.

Since taking over in October, Rohl has suffered just one defeat in charge at Ibrox.

With five games to go, Rangers are two points ahead of bitter rivals and defending champions Celtic, while Hearts hold a slender lead at the top.

The Gers still have to play Hearts, Celtic, Motherwell, Hibernian, and Falkirk again before learning whether or not they will lift the title.

Rangers lost Ryan Naderi to injury in the 4-2 win over Dundee United on 4 April, but any fears of attacking impotency were washed away at Falkirk.

Indeed, as shared by Joshua Barrie, the Ibrox side’s xG against Falkirk was their second highest of the season, behind the 3.89 xG they mustered against Dundee United.

That bodes well heading into the final stretch of the season, as Chermiti and Miovski both had a big impact on the game, regardless of their all-around performances.

Danny Rohl’s stock continues to rise

After surrendering a 2-0 lead against Celtic in the league and then going out on penalties in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals to the Hoops in early March, questions were beginning to be asked of Rohl.

However, four wins in a row have left them in a good position to win their first league title since 2021.

And they have former Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl to thank for that after overseeing a superb run of results since succeeding Russell Martin in October.

Rangers have picked up 60 points in Rohl’s 25 games in charge, a whole 10 points better off than Celtic and 12 above Hearts.

There could still be plenty of twists and turns to go, with Rangers away at Celtic and Hearts in the coming weeks.

But they are finding form at just the right time, as Rangers’ win over Falkirk demonstrated.
