View: Tottenham offered small crumb of comfort thanks to teenage gem's exploits

Rising Tottenham Hotspur star Ashiah Haughton-Sinclair may be one of the club’s few positives right now.

Tottenham are just one point and two places above the Premier League relegation zone, with interim boss Igor Tudor winless in his first four matches in all competitions.

Spurs haven’t won in the league since 28 December and to make matters worse, they look set to crash out of the Champions League, too.

Former boss Thomas Frank guided them into the last-16 with an impressive league phase campaign after finishing fourth in the table.

But on Tuesday, Igor’s side were thumped 5-2 by Atletico Madrid to put them on the brink of a sorry exit. Despite Tottenham’s struggles, they appear to have an academy gem in Haughton-Sinclair.

Tottenham starlet hits remarkable goalscoring milestone

Earlier this season, Haughton-Sinclair was compared to a young Harry Kane, with the teenager branded a “massive talent”.

The 14-year-old has been called up to England’s Under-15s, and played for his country against Cyprus’ Under-15s in February.

Now, as pointed out by The Talent Hunter page on X, Haughton-Sinclair scored four goals for Tottenham in their last Under-15s game, a 5-1 win over Aston Villa.

He has now bagged 72 goal contributions this season. Moreover, he has now hit the 500-goal mark since joining Tottenham’s academy in 2019.

Haughton-Sinclair broke Noni Madueke’s record to become the youngest-ever player to make an appearance for Tottenham’s Under-18 side when he came off the bench on a 2-1 win at Ipswich on 28 February.

While a first-team call-up will be a long way off, this precocious talent could be one for the future at Tottenham.

Tottenham’s immediate future looks very bleak

While Haughton-Sinclair is an apparent star of tomorrow, today, Tudor’s Tottenham are in deep, deep trouble.

They are setting unwanted records left, right, and centre, both in the Premier League and Champions League.

Tudor is only four games into his Tottenham reign, following the sacking of Thomas Frank last month, but already, speculation is mounting that he could be sacked.

Tottenham also have a raft of injury issues to the likes of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus and more, plus Micky van de Ven is suspended.

Captain Cristian Romero is back from his own red card ban but things could get even worse when they travel to Liverpool on Sunday.

A loss there could end Tudor’s short and unhappy tenure at Tottenham.
