'What a saga' - Sky journo reacts as attacker moves step closer to Rangers transfer

Ryan Naderi’s Rangers medical is going to plan, but there is still a hold-up on Hansa Rostock’s end.

Danny Rohl has wanted a new striker all along in the winter transfer market, and it’s fair to say that deals haven’t come easy.

Cameron Archer‘s switch from Southampton to Ibrox broke down, as the Gers press on in a deal to land Naderi, who they’ve been trying hard to sign in recent days.

The German wants to come play under Rohl, but Hansa Rostock have been a hard club for Rangers to negotiate with.

Ryan Naderi completes first half of Rangers medical

Naderi has been in Manchester to complete his medical on Monday, as the striker grows closer to joining the Bears, but Hansa Rostock have yet to agree to terms over a permanent sale.

According to Sky Sports journalist Ben Heckner, Hansa Rostock have yet to give their green light for Gers to sign Naderi.

Heckner wrote: “Part one of the medical in Manchester is done. Still no green light from Hansa Rostock. What a saga.”

Time is ticking, and it would be heartbreaking for both Naderi and the Bears if the deal didn’t go through.

The Bears are said to have significantly increased their initial £2.6milion bid that was rejected for Naderi, and there may be growing concern that Hansa Rostock won’t approve the sale in time.

There’s a good reason why Naderi would be a better signing than Cameron Archer

Rangers may have dodged a bullet in the form of Archer. Southampton were reluctant to let the number nine leave due to being unable to sign his replacement.

But there’s probably a good reason as to why the Saints were happy to let their multi-million-pound signing depart, despite their own struggles in the Championship.

Archer has scored just 13 goals across the last three seasons and has been out of form since he left Middlesbrough after the 2022-23 season.

Naderi, on the other hand, is banging the goals in regular, which is why the Gers will be so keen to finalise his signing before the deadline.

Hopefully Hansa Rostock don’t let both parties down here.
