'You’ve lost your marbles' - McCoist hits back at Morris over Rangers title claim

Ally McCoist could not believe Jody Morris’ latest claim on Rangers and the Scottish Premiership title race.

The Gers are battling for the championship with Derek McInnes’ side, with just one point between the sides heading into the split.

A lot of neutrals want the Jambos to pip the Light Blues and Celtic to the crown, as they are sick of the Old Firm sides dominating.

However, McCoist is not one of them, and he fired back after the ex-Chelsea man claimed that the Bears legend would want McInnes to lift the title.

McCoist’s loyalty to Rangers is unquestionable, and he made that clear with his response.

What did Morris and McCoist say about Rangers title chase?

McCoist was vocal about his concerns on Rangers and Celtic’s fixtures after the split, but he is resolute in his desire for his former side to win the league.

Morris used the former Scotland international’s connection with the Tynecastle boss to try to argue that he would like him to win it over the Gers, but he was having none of it, and stuck with the club that he loves.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 17 April (08:46 am), he said: “I know you’re Rangers, but you must want Hearts to get over the line, come on, he is our mate.”

McCoist hit back, saying: “There’s something happening with the line mate, you’ve lost your marbles if you think I want the Jambos to win the league before the Teddy Bears, come on Jody, man, no chance.”

Morris ended his point, saying: “Listen, I am Rangers as well, but I definitely want Del to get over the line, what an amazing job he has done, we are lucky to be pals with him, it would be brilliant if they could split the Old Firm up for one year.”

The one scenario that would have McCoist rooting for Hearts

There is only one scenario where McCoist would want his pal to win it all.

If the G51 side are out of contention on the final day, then he will surely not want Martin O’Neill’s side to be holding the trophy up at the end of the campaign, and to go ahead of them, with both sides on 55 titles at the moment.

Hopefully, that does not happen, and Danny Rohl‘s side are firmly in with a chance on the final day, but if it was not the case, a Jambos victory is the only acceptable outcome for the Auchenhowie side.

No matter what happens, there is plenty to be excited about in the blue half of Glasgow, as Rohl has completely changed their fortunes, and he will be backed by the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh to improve his squad further in the summer.

If the Gers win the title, it will be a brilliant achievement, but if they do not, it is not all doom and gloom.
