Ange Postecoglou: Tottenham return odds slashed

Ange Postecoglou is back in the running to be the next Tottenham Hotspur manager.

As per major bookmakers, the former Spurs boss is now priced at 17/2 to be the next Tottenham manager, which is signficantly lower than it was just a few weeks ago, with it looking increasingly unlikely that Igor Tudor will get the job permanently.

The Croatian has yet to win a game in charge of the North Londoners, casting doubt over whether he will be in the job for much longer.

Postecoglou won the Europa League with Tottenham before being sacked, with the Australian now fourth-favourite to make a return to the Lilywhites.

Tottenham remain likely to appoint a new manager in the summer, when it will be determined which division they will be playing in.

Who else is in running for Tottenham job?

While Postecoglou is back in the running, he is far from the favourite.

Instead, that is Mauricio Pochettino, who is priced as low as 2/1 with some bookmakers to make his return to North London.

The Argentine is currently focused on World Cup preparation with the USMNT, with a decision on his future only likely to be made after the competition.

Roberto De Zerbi and Robbie Keane, who has been linked with the Crystal Palace job, are also among the other favourites for the role at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

What has Ange Postecoglou said about Tottenham return?

Even when Thomas Frank was sacked, there was a handful of Spurs fans who wanted to see Postecoglou return, despite the struggles he had faced at Nottingham Forest earlier this season.

And then again, when Tudor seemed to be on the brink of the axe, his name popped up again.

However, the Australian made it clear earlier this year that he is unlikely to go back to an old club, without specifically naming Tottenham.

Back in February, he said via The Overlap: “I won’t go back, I don’t think that’s kind of how my career has gone and played out.”

On whether he wants to stay in England, he added: “It depends. I think what’s important now is that I’m still really passionate about football, so if a club approaches me, it’s not like I’m going to walk in and do things differently.”
