Tottenham: Randal Kolo Muani told he would be Premier League hit at any other club

Tottenham Hotspur have been told that Randal Kolo Muani is good enough to play for almost every Premier League club despite his poor form in North London.

Kolo Muani has endured a nightmarish loan spell in the top-flight, scoring a measly four goals in his 32 appearances across all competitions this season.

The striker arrived from PSG two years after first joining the Ligue 1 heavyweights in a £76.4million deal, and patience among Spurs supporters has already snapped.

That will likely see Kolo Muani leave Tottenham when his deal runs down in the summer, but an expert has now leapt to his defence, insisting he is still a quality frontman.

Can Randal Kolo Muani still rescue Tottenham?

Spurs will look to pull off Mission Impossible on Wednesday when they host Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, having been thumped 5-2 in Spain.

Expectations over Kolo Muani hit rock bottom after he was withdrawn by Igor Tudor at half-time at the Metropolitano, having been handed a start.

However, European football expert Andy Brassell believes that the 27-year-old can have a crucial say in overturning the deficit, despite his dismal campaign to date.

“These are the situations in which Xavi Simons, Randal Kolo Muani can really, really excel,” Brassell said, speaking on talkSPORT’s Trans Europe Express.

“Kolo Muani is someone who would be good for, honestly, probably about 17 or 18 out of the Premier League clubs. He is that good. I really do believe in him.

“But at the moment, Spurs fans are really quite angry. Understandably so. The only impression they have got of the players who have just arrived are his failures, really, so far.

“I think it’s a really good question what happens to him next season. I would not be surprised to see him back at Juventus because he did great there. They really liked him, and he really liked them. It has been difficult at Spurs so far.”

Brassell’s verdict will raise eyebrows in N17, but Kolo Muani can still make himself an unlikely hero by helping to sneak Tottenham into the Champions League quarter-finals.

Kolo Muani’s Atletico nightmare in numbers

To do so, he will have to drastically improve on his showing in Madrid last week.

During his 45-minute outing, Kolo Muani took just 14 touches of the ball and completed only one pass, as demonstrated via the Sofascore graphic below.

That was a woeful 33 per cent success rate, a major reason why Spurs were unable to establish a foothold, while his two unsuccessful dribbles didn’t help matters, either.

Having failed to offer anything up front, and with the visitors already 3-1 down at the interval, Tudor made the change that encapsulated the ace’s Tottenham career.

While there could yet be a reprieve, supporters certainly won’t be counting on it.
