'Baffles me' - Journalist can't believe what Rangers & Celtic haven't done in winter window

Rangers haven’t made an official approach to Motherwell for striker Tawanda Maswanhise in the winter transfer window.

Southampton centre-forward Cameron Archer has emerged as a concrete target at Ibrox, but the move currently hangs in the balance

Danny Rohl will also have Hansa Rostock attacker Ryan Naderi at his disposal soon, but any agreement will only see the 22-year-old German join the Gers at the end of the season.

With Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski unable to score consistently this season, there’s an evident need for a new quality number nine at the Glaswegian outfit.

Rangers yet to make contact for Tawanda Maswanhise signing

Maswanhise doesn’t seem to be a target for the Gers and Celtic as of now, according to Scott Burns.

The Scottish journalist is unsure whether any of the Old Firm clubs have even enquired about the Zimbabwe international’s price tag at Fir Park.

It’s clearly evident that the two Glaswegian outfits are in desperate need of a quality number nine, and the 23-year-old has scored 13 goals in 21 William Hill Premiership appearances this season.

Speaking on Hotline Live on 1 February, Burns said, “There’s no doubt that on current form, he could walk into either Rangers or Celtic and improve them vastly. The fact is, neither club have made an official approach to Motherwell before now.”

The journalist added, “For whatever reason, I don’t even know if Rangers and Celtic have gone to Motherwell to even enquire about a price, which just baffles me. And I know there’s been no contact. Up to last night, there’d been no contact from Rangers or Celtic with his camp.”

Hibernian secured a point at Ibrox, with the Light Blues forced to a 0-0 draw in the league, which has now seen them drop back down to third in the table, and Chermiti and Miovski don’t seem good enough for a title charge in G51.

Ibrox exit to fall through after latest transfer developments

Archer’s move to Rangers seems unlikely right now, and that will surely affect the outgoings in G51.

Danilo has been linked with a move away from the Glaswegian outfit before the 2 February deadline, but that may be in jeopardy.

If the Light Blues are unable to sign a new number nine, it wouldn’t make sense to sanction the Brazilian striker’s exit, unless they have alternative targets up their sleeves that we don’t know about Ibrox.

It’s undoubtedly going to be a tense day for fans in G51, and the coming hours could be pivotal in how the season pans out for the Gers.
