Celtic fans tear into ‘abysmal’ star after Dundee United defeat: ‘The most pathetic performance I’ve ever seen’
Celtic fans have been left seething after their team were beaten 2-1 away at Dundee United on Wednesday night.
Daizen Maeda had put the visitors ahead with a 13th minute strike, before the Bhoys then missed several chances to put themselves out of reach before the half-time interval.
They were ultimately left to rue those missed opportunities, as goals from Krisztian Keresztes and Zach Sapsford turned the scoreline on its head after the break.
The walls are closing in on Wilfried Nancy at Celtic, and the midweek reverse now means that his reign has begun with four consecutive defeats.
Celtic fans have been piling the pressure on him in recent days, and their anger turned towards those on the pitch in midweek.

Celtic fans blast Johnny Kenny after costly display
Johnny Kenny has had a mixed campaign for Celtic so far this season, as a respectable goalscoring return has at times been overshadowed by some poor moments in front of goal.
The 22-year-old has four strikes to his name in the Premiership so far this season, but his tally could be far higher had he not spurned some quality chances throughout the campaign.
Missed opportunities were the story of Kenny’s evening once again on Wednesday, as he squandered several golden chances to extend his side’s lead in the first half.
The Irishman was eventually withdrawn in the 65th minute, and Celtic fans wasted no time in dishing out cutting criticism towards him on social media for the role that he played.
One supporter suggested that he would “single-handedly” get Nancy sacked, while another branded his display as the “most pathetic performance ever witnessed by a Celtic striker.”
Another questioned how Kenny is even a professional footballer, while another noted that the defeat was “all on” him.
- @kn2wnn: “Kenny should never play football above the Sunday league level ever again.”
- @frankieboy1887: “Kenny is an abysmal striker.”
- @johnboybeattie: “Kenny killing this team at both ends of the pitch. He’s absolutely rank-rotten.”
Johnny Kenny’s horrendous finishing stats vs Dundee United
Maeda was at his creative best for Celtic on Wednesday, but Kenny was unable to take advantage of the quality opportunities that he created.
The ex-Shamrock Rovers frontman spurned two big chances during his time on the pitch, and was unable to find the back of the net despite generating 0.88xG from his own opportunities alone.
Stats Kenny Total Touches 29 xG 0.88 Shots (On Target) 4 (1) Big Chances Missed 2 Touches in Opposition Box 7
Kenny also missed the target with three of his four efforts on goal, and it was hugely concerning that he failed to even work the goalkeeper with several of the chances that fell his way.
It was a night to forget for the youngster at Tannadice, and the game could have been totally different for Nancy and Co. had he been able to put them out of sight in the opening period.
The boss’ future now appears to be hanging by a thread, and it is hard not to lay some of the blame with Kenny after the way that he performed.
