That’s according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says that the Reds are still pushing to reach an agreement with Konate on a new contract despite the France international also having interest from elsewhere.
See below for Plettenberg’s post on X about Konate’s future, which sounds more hopeful than other reports we’ve heard in the last few months as he’s come closer and closer towards the end of his current Liverpool contract…

Ibrahima Konate transfer coverage hints at shift
This post from Plettenberg and some info published in the Athletic this week perhaps suggests we’re starting to see growing optimism about Liverpool keeping hold of Konate.
That report cited dressing room sources as stating that it’s more likely the 26-year-old will stay than leave LFC, even if it would seem nothing has been agreed yet.
Konate may well have started to lean towards staying at Liverpool, with there not currently being much in the way of links with other big clubs.
That’s slightly surprising as Konate is such a top talent, but perhaps big clubs in the market for a new centre-back have settled on other options.
That might convince Konate to stay where he is, so it will be interesting to see if more positive stories come out on this in the coming days and weeks.
