Deal sheet submitted to PL for post-deadline Everton exit, medical underway - report

Everton may need to lean on the Premier League for extra permission to help finalise a deal with Crystal Palace for Dwight McNeil.

McNeil was the subject of a £20million bid from Palace in the closing stages of Monday’s transfer deadline.

The window for teams in England shut for business at 7pm, at which point it was unknown how advanced the transfer was.

However, as reported by David Ornstein in an update just before that cut-off point, there is still a chance it could go through.

Everton accept £20m Dwight McNeil offer, now relying on deal sheet

Ornstein reported via The Athletic‘s live transfer blog that Everton accepted Palace’s £20m offer for McNeil.

McNeil is undergoing a medical and the two teams are working on getting a deal over the line.

Ornstein added that there are “no guarantees” a deal will go through given how late in the window it was left.

Jack Rosser added via X that a deal sheet was submitted in order to buy some extra time.

It means fans of both teams will be left in limbo to see if McNeil ends the day as an Everton player or a Crystal Palace player.

Jamie Carragher right on the money with McNeil point

Jamie Carragher gave his thoughts on Palace’s late-window interest in McNeil, describing it as surprising on the face of it.

The former Liverpool player went on to say Everton should accept the fee, which matches what they paid to sign McNeil from Burnley in July 2022.

McNeil has been a good servant for Everton over the past three-and-a-half years, but it is fair to say his stock has fallen.

With just seven Premier League starts this season, he is no longer a go-to man and the money offered by Palace is simply too good to turn down.

It may leave David Moyes light, but The Friedkin Group cannot be blamed for wanting to cash in – assuming this does indeed go through.
