Everything Eddie Howe said about Tino Livramento after latest injury scare vs Fulham - 'Huge blow'

Eddie Howe has provided an update on Tino Livramento’s newest injury scare after he was forced off against Fulham in the Carabao Cup.

Livramento‘s injury saw him substituted in the second half against Fulham as goals from Yoane Wissa and Lewis Miley sent Newcastle into the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

Wissa scored his first goal for the club from close range early on before Sasa Lukic levelled it soon after, but the Tyneside outfit progressed as youngster Miley headed home at the death.

A much-needed win was clouded by Livramento’s injury, and the Magpies will be fearful of another long-term setback with numerous defenders already sidelined.

Dan Burn’s punctured lung and fractured rib against Sunderland saw him join the likes of Kieran Trippier and Sven Botman in the treatment room, while Lewis Hall also missed the Fulham game with a minor hamstring issue.

What Howe has said about Livramento after Fulham blow

Livramento looked uneasy as he went down without any contact from a Fulham player on Wednesday evening, and he trudged off the pitch to go straight down the tunnel in another bad sign for the near future.

The England defender was seen with heavy strapping on his left knee after the game, and Howe confirmed that he is fearing the worst as the club awaits an official diagnosis.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “It doesn’t look good. The fact that he came off is a worrying sign. We’re so stretched in that area that it would be a huge blow.”

Livramento has already missed seven weeks of action this season after injuring his knee ligaments against Arsenal in September, and now could be out for another extended period of time.

Livramento injury could have silver lining for Newcastle amid serious Man City interest

Newcastle’s unimpressive start to the campaign means they will not want to lose any of their key players in the January window.

Livramento’s strong showings last season saw him linked away from Tyneside, with Football Insider revealing in the summer that Man City were set to step up their interest in Livramento ahead of this term.

The England man has been as influential from full-back in 2025-26, and Football Insider have revealed that Man City remain front-runners to sign Livramento as he refuses to discuss a new contract until the end of the season.

City may have been weighing up a January move for his services to solve their right-back problem, yet this latest injury issue is likely to end any talk of such a move.

Everyone at Newcastle will be annoyed that Livramento is set to be sidelined once more, but the fact that he is set to be out could be a silver lining for them as he now looks set to remain at the club until at least next summer.
