Ex-EFC Employee reveals chances of Everton agreeing Liam Delap deal

Liam Delap could reignite his career at Everton after making the wrong call to move to Chelsea last summer.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who is backing David Moyes to sign the 23-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Delap has only scored one Premier League goal since his £30million from Ipswich Town, meaning Chelsea could allow the striker to leave the club.

Everton’s transfer business in the summer will target adding extra firepower to their squad, with Moyes’ side having only scored 32 goals in 28 Premier League games.

‘Strong possibility’ Everton sign Liam Delap

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Delap was “badly advised” moving to Chelsea.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness would back Delap to be a success at Everton.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think this is a strong possibility. I know that he was high on the list and I think he made the wrong mistake and was badly advised going to Chelsea.

“I think he would really benefit from playing under David Moyes and playing with Everton. I think he’s exactly the type of striker that we need right now, and I think he would get the right game time and I think he’d do very well in the formation that we’ve got right now.

“He’d get great service and I think he is the right one, and I do think this is something that may well happen. There’s certainly rumours out of Chelsea that [Liam] Rosenior has got other thoughts about players up front, and I think Delap could well end up in Everton, and I think it’d be the best move for him.”

Everton’s Jordan Pickford stance revealed

Sources have told Football Insider that Everton have no intentions of selling Jordan Pickford anytime soon, as the 31-year-old remains a crucial part of Moyes’ side.

Pickford remains the undisputed number one at the club, and he has kept nine clean sheets in 28 Premier League games this season.

With some Premier League clubs on the lookout for a new goalkeeper in the summer, Pickford does not look set to be leaving Merseyside.
