Ex-Everton CEO reveals David Moyes stance on signing Tomas Soucek already

Keith Wyness has admitted that Everton manager David Moyes remains an admirer of West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek.

Everton tried to sign Soucek last summer ahead of their move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the Czech international remained in east London.

With West Ham still in the Premier League relegation zone with seven games to go this season, there could be a fire sale soon at the London Stadium.

And as Everton push to secure European football again, Soucek could relish a reunion on Merseyside with his former boss, Moyes.

Tomas Soucek and Jack Grealish could seal Everton moves

Wyness has revealed that Moyes does admire Soucek and his signature would improve the squad depth significantly at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The ex-Everton CEO exclusively told Goodison News that a deal could be done if West Ham get relegated over the next couple of months.

“Well, I think Soucek was, he definitely was admired by David Moyes, and they tried to get hold of him last year, last summer,” Wyness said.

“And I think that’s when Dewsbury Hall came in, and now we’re seeing Dewsbury Hall, James Garner in midfield, now, Soucek’s 31.

“Well, he’s still an admirer. Again, a lot would depend on whether West Ham go down. I think Moyes would take him for a couple of seasons, possibly if there’s a deal to be done.

“I think if West Ham were going down, then there would be a deal to be done.

“But I don’t think he’s going to be a priority in terms of signings. I think he’ll be a nice option to have. And certainly he’d be coming into a pretty good midfield now with some talented young players that come into the peak of their game.

“And if Grealish can come in as well with Ndiaye, and then you have some backups there as well. It’s starting to look very good for next season, this is what I’m saying.”

How could Everton squad look next season?

Despite his injury, Grealish could still move to Everton permanently in a cut-price deal with Manchester City, regardless of his wages.

Add Soucek to that midfield area alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Idrissa Gana Gueye and James Garner, and you have serious Premier League depth.

That’s with Tim Iroegbunam, Harrison Armstrong and possibly Merlin Rohl still in midfield.

Moyes could have a luxury of options to choose from, and Soucek would be available on the cheap should West Ham drop into the Championship.

That also opens the door for more reinforcements elsewhere, with the Friedkins set to really back Moyes if he delivers European football again.
