Everton could now swoop to sign Raul Jimenez from Fulham ahead of his contract expiring.

The Mexico international is heading towards the end of his current terms at Craven Cottage after three years in West London.

That could come at a perfect time for David Moyes and Co. as the search for a new number nine option continues at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Various targets were assessed in the January transfer window before Thierno Barry and Beto were given the nod for the rest of the season.

The Blues could finally get their hands on a fresh-faced striker as Jimenez could be on the move to Merseyside within months.

The 34-year-old would certainly represent an experienced option in L4, but that is something that Moyes hasn’t been afraid to do throughout his reign.

He has bags of Premier League experience and has been a regular source of goal output throughout his days at Fulham and Wolves.

With his contract expiring, it is no surprise that interest has emerged, and former Everton scout Bryan King has backed his old side to make a contract offer.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: “He’s the sort of player that David Moyes will want to add to his squad.

“If you can bring in a player like that in on a free transfer, he’s going to be on a three-year deal.

“He’s already on £100,000 per week. They’ll structure a contract with a raise in his money and his signing-on fees.

“His wage will go up to £150,000 if he joins Everton on a free.

“He’ll also be getting extra payments that will add up to a couple of million on top of his basic wages.”

Jimenez would fit in perfectly under David Moyes

Moyes loves an experienced head to help his squad tick over.

You only have to look at the current role that 36-year-old Idrissa Gueye is having on Merseyside to realise that.

Jimenez could prove to be another asset like the Senegal international that provides experience as well as an eye for goal in the Premier League, as showcased by Sofascore.

He would likely be a second or third choice option for the Blues if he were to join, but even in that role he could thrive.

The Mexican has been famed as a poacher and someone who knows where the net is inside the box, so he could become a useful star under the Scot.
