Expert: Chelsea plan to accept 'huge' offer for want-away star

Enzo Fernandez is edging closer to a move away from Chelsea this summer with Real Madrid lining up a move after he confessed his interest.

The 25-year-old has been excluded from Liam Rosenior’s squad after his comments about leaving Chelsea, which also included criticism of the change in manager.

Real Madrid have been long-term admirers of the Argentina international, and are now expected to step up their pursuit with the door now open for a move.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Chelsea are prepared to let Fernandez leave, but will insist on receiving a fair price.

Fernandez could command a “huge” fee to leave Stamford Bridge given his performances this season, with Chelsea determined to do the deal on their own terms.

Could Chelsea accept offers for Enzo Fernandez?

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider on 28 March that Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea and is expected to move on when the window opens.

His confession about potentially joining Real Madrid has put the Spanish giants on alert, and the move is now growing increasingly likely.

Chelsea have no plans to keep players who don’t want to be at the club, and they could be tempted to cash in should that become clear.

“Given everything that’s happened lately, I can’t see him staying,” Brown told Football Insider.

“Chelsea can’t afford to have a player like that disrupting things in the dressing room, because it can spread quickly with players becoming unhappy.

“So if Real Madrid do come in for him, they’ll be prepared to let him go.

“The deal will have to be on their terms, with a fee that works for them, because they’re not just going to let him leave for peanuts.

“It might take a huge fee for Chelsea, but that’s not going to be an issue, when Real Madrid want a player they usually get the deal done.

“He’s come out and publicly said he would move on, so it’s probably best for everybody if that happens.”

Fernandez kicks off dressing room revolt at Chelsea

Fernandez was not the only Chelsea player to hint at a potential summer exit during the international break, leading to new concerns at Stamford Bridge.

Both Marc Cucurella and Moises Caicedo also hinted they could be lured away from Stamford Bridge, while criticising them over Enzo Maresca’s departure.

Brown told Football Insider on 6 April that Chelsea are facing a dressing room revolt with multiple unhappy players publicly speaking out.

Rosenior is now being made to deal with the in-house issues after they became public, and has been told he should have addressed the concerns earlier.

The players are believed to have privately expressed their frustrations before speaking out, and hold a lot of influence behind the scenes, raising concerns.
