Expert: I know well the player West Ham are trying to sign, Nuno has made the wrong call

West Ham may have made the wrong call allowing manager Nuno Espirito Santo to link back up with Adama Traore.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who thinks Traore is not what West Ham require in a relegation battle.

West Ham have been linked with a move for Traore ever since Nuno took charge at the London Stadium, with the pair having worked together at Wolves.

The Hammers have been active in the January window as they look to overturn a five-point deficit to maintain their Premier League status.

Expert ‘disagrees’ on Adama Traore signing

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – is unconvinced by Traore’s record in the Premier League.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes West Ham should not have signed the 30-year-old.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Yes, I did sell Traore when I was at Villa. I had a chance to analyse him and look at the whole situation there. He’s not the guy I would want to have in the trenches with me in terms of a relegation battle.

“And I get it, Nuno, he’s had him before at Wolves, and he likes him and rates him, but I’m afraid to me there’s no end product. But, Nuno seems to be calling the shots.

“So we’ll see, but again, I would disagree with Nuno on this particular player. It’s not what West Ham need right now.”
